Time is the most valuable asset we possess. As an entrepreneur, freelancer, CEO, or anyone who has taken the reins of their own destiny, I've come to realize that time management is the key to success.
Every morning, I wake up with a renewed sense of purpose. Unlike employees who work for someone else, I work for time. Time is not just an asset; it's a currency. It's not something I own but something I invest in, hoping for a return. Every day presents a new bank of time, and it's up to me to decide how to spend or invest it. I've hired drivers, assistants, and delegated tasks not because I can't do them, but because it buys back my time. The return on investment (ROI) from these decisions has always been greater than the cost.
Successful entrepreneurs don't just build businesses; they scale them. The mindset shift that has been pivotal for me is viewing time as an investment into future success. Every minute of the day should yield a positive ROI, creating a flow of success and growth. This perspective has also helped me navigate the ups and downs of life. If someone wastes 15 minutes of my time, I don't let it ruin the remaining 985 minutes of my day.
Breaking down time further, I view each day as consisting of 1,440 minutes. After accounting for essential activities like sleeping and eating, I'm left with approximately 1,000 minutes or "dollars" to be productive. This mindset has transformed the way I approach meetings, tasks, and decisions. Every minute counts, and I ensure that it's spent wisely.
On a broader scale, I manage my year by the hour, equating it to 4,000 hours. This perspective allows me to allocate hours to specific goals, ensuring that I'm always moving forward. Whether it's expanding my brokerage, growing my sales training program, or producing content, I allocate hours based on the goals I've set for the year.
However, it's essential to understand that entrepreneurs don't just make money from skills; they make money from solving problems. While skills are valuable, the real currency lies in identifying market gaps and providing solutions. This realization was a game-changer for me. Instead of focusing solely on acquiring new skills, I shifted my attention to solving problems, which in turn became the foundation of my businesses.
Time management is more than just organizing one's day; it's about investing time wisely, solving problems, and scaling businesses. As I reflect on my journey, I'm grateful for the lessons learned and the strategies I've developed. Time is indeed our greatest asset, and how we choose to spend it determines our success.
